What a Surprise!
On my 9th birthday September 2004 (and his 1st) I got an e-mail from my Labradoodle son, Beaux! I had only seen pictures of him when he
was about 3 weeks old and then in a
picture at 12 weeks.
Did it ever make my day! Here is his picture with his human
sister. He's quite a fine looking guy! ....and he's
learning to play Frisbee too. Click on the picture to see a
larger version. |

Saturday May 22, 2004 Ron and Mary
were married.
Ron's my human brother.
It was actually Ron who brought me home when I was 8 weeks old. I
lived with him for 2 days and he dropped me off here in Middletown where
I've lived ever since. Mary is pretty cool and I think he'll keep
her...... even if she can't catch a Frisbee in her mouth.
Check out some wedding
photos.
Although I wasn't invited to the wedding
so I don't know why you would want to.

My human sister, Kim (and Margo's human Mom) graduated
from Rutgers University with her Masters in Education. She claims she
had a 4.0 average too. Maybe now that she'll have all the free
time she'll play Frisbee with Margo.

Middletown South Eagles go undefeated and win Central New Jersey Group III
State Finals (again)!
Tuesday December 9, 2003 My favorite
high school football team beat Red Bank to complete an undefeated
season! The game was originally scheduled for Saturday Dec. 6th at
Rutgers Stadium but a big snow storm precluded that happening.
I'm extremely happy that the snow came down because the game was relocated
to be played at "The Swamp" Middletown South's home field the
following Tuesday. I would not have been able to do my normal
halftime Frisbee demo at Rutgers due to a shortened halftime
program. Well the Eagles played their final game at the Swamp
and I WAS able to go to the game..... and was the field ever muddy!
I know first-hand why they affectionately call it the Swamp! On my
first Frisbee catch attempt at halftime I slipped in the mud and fell on
my butt! Luckily the Eagles, even with only two legs were more
sure footed than I was! They proved that by winning the game
24-14. Following is an
e-mail excerpt from Dawn, one of the many great Eagle fans I met at the
games this year. She has her
own Lab named Cooper but he didn't come to any of the games.
Maybe next year! I sent him a Frisbee so he can practice.
"Hello Rudy!
Just wanted to let you know it was a pleasure watching all of Middletown South's Football games with you this season!!! Watching your halftime performances were as exciting as the games themselves."
Go
EAGLES! I'll be there to see you win it all again next year!

It started with a brief appearance on the Weekend Today in New York TV Show
followed by the rest of the day at the Search And Rescue & Service
Dog Day at the Intrepid! See more about this fun day by
visiting my Search And Rescue and Service Dog Day at the

Nick too?!?
Well it seems that Melissa's (see "Congrats
Melissa" below) brother thinks he should get some kudos too. He
has landed a great job and was bummed because I hadn't included any
recognition for him. Nick now works at the Hyatt hotel in
Princeton so if any of you dogs out there want a great room ask for
Nick! I'm sure it's a canine friendly hotel and he'll see that you
get a huge discount as well as "Milk Bones" or better yet,
"Greenies" left on your pillow each night. Be sure
to ask for Nick and tell him Rudy sent you!

think so. Well done Melissa!

Great Mutt & Rescue Dog Show!
May 17, 2003 - We had a great time at Jolly Cackle Farm, Locust, NJ on Saturday May 17th.
I was invited to perform a canine Frisbee demonstration again this
year. Last year after my demo I was even invited to take a dip in
the lovely in-ground pool with some other dogs. This year it was too
cold! Click here to see pictures.
Dogs participated in games, agility contests and there were prizes for numerous categories including Best Kisser, Best Catcher and Highest Jumper.
The event was a fund raiser for the Monmouth County SPCA and
proceeds will benefit homeless animals at the Monmouth County SPCA.
I even met Boo, a very cute, 5 year old Black Lab who played Frisbee, and
invited her to our canine disc
competition on September 13th. I hope to see you then Boo!

Cedar Grove Elementary Dog Day Afternoon
May 7th, 2003 my friend Bear (Bear's an
Australian Shepherd...or Aussie for short) and I performed frisbeedog
demonstrations at the Dog Day Afternoon celebration at Cedar Grove
Elementary School in Toms River, NJ. Some of the Cedar Grove
students had a chance to throw Frisbees for us. They were pretty
good Frisbee tossers! We had a great time and everyone was very nice
to us. Bear and I had ample opportunity to mingle with the students.

Trailside Nature and Science Center Pet Show
May 4, 2003 - After the Bronx competition (see above) was over, we made a mad dash to
Trailside Nature and Science Center in Mountainside NJ where we joined some more Frisbee dogs
and performed a canine Frisbee demo at the annual
Pet Fair. Joan Lowell Smith's column in the Accent section
of the Star Ledger newspaper on Sunday May 18th had a nice review of the event.
....even if she did call me Ruby and refer to me as she! The column
even had a picture of me wearing my Doggles.

My Visit to Sunrise Assisted Living - Lincroft
Thursday, December 27, 2002 - Today I paid a Therapy
Dog visit at Sunrise Assisted Living in Lincroft, NJ. What a nice
place! I visited a lot of the residents who were all so very nice to
me. Well all except for Oscar the cat. He had just gone
outside before I arrived and just stared daggers at me through the glass
door. I don't think he was too happy to see me. I don't
understand why not?!? I get along just fine with Ralph, our
cat. I'm hoping to go back again this week.

Middletown South Eagles win Federal Conference title
Friday November 1, 2002 - the Middletown South
Eagles High School football team clinched a conference title with their
sixth win in a row for their 12th title in sixteen years. They beat
Pinelands Regional by a score of 26 - 13. Pinelands entered the game
with a 5-1 record. Do you think it's a coincidence that the Eagles
have won every game in the past two years when I have performed a half
time frisbee demonstration? I've only missed performing at one
game..... and the Eagles, although they won statistically, lost that game
....their first game of the year, this year. I take full
responsibility for not being there!

New York State (Human) Frisbee Championships
Sunday October 6, 2002 - the New York State
Frisbee Championships were held as part of Warwick, New York's annual
Apple Fest. It was a freestyle competition for humans not dogs....
can you imagine that? I was looking forward to seeing a human run
and catch a frisbee in it's mouth, but that isn't what they do. I'm
going to add a page to my site with some pictures so stay tuned. I
attended with my canine frisbee friend Jewel to perform some canine
frisbee demos in between the human competitors' performances. It was
a lot of fun and the fans seemed to really enjoy it.

Mutt's Marathon - at Kraft Foods!
September 15, 2002, 12 - 3 P.M., Mt. Pleasant
Animal Shelter hosted a dog walkathon to raise funds for orphaned
pets at Kraft Foods, 100 DeForest Ave., East Hanover, NJ. In
addition to the walk, there were many demonstrations and activities,
not the least of which was a frisbee demonstration by me. We
had a great time and thank the good folks from Mt. Pleasant for inviting
us and for putting on the event for such a worthwhile cause. We're
hoping to go back again next year.

Trenton Thunder Baseball game
Friday evening, August 9, 2002 we performed a canine frisbee
demonstration at the Trenton Thunder minor league baseball game. Between the 2nd and
3rd and then the 6th and 7th innngs we went into the outfield and had somefun playing
frisbee. They even showed me on the instant replay scoreboard. Between the
performances we mingled with the Thunder fans in the concession area. The fans were
great. I hope we get a chance to go back in 2003.

Middletown South Eagles win State Championship 21 -
14 remains unbeaten!
On Saturday Dec.1st, the Eagles football team
traveled to Hamilton West to play the Central New Jersey Group III Sectional Championship
game. For some goofy reason, the undefeated team, Middletown South was the 2nd seed
in the playoffs while a team with 2 losses was the #1 seed. Well despite no home
field advantage, the Eagles showed who the top team was. Since the game wasn't at
home I couldn't perform at halftime....that's a bummer! Well it was a great
season! The team was tops and I really had a lot of fun at the games. Congratulations
Middletown South! |

Middletown South Eagles Advance to Finals
On Friday evening Nov. 16th, the 9-0 Middletown South Eagles football
team met the 9-0 Wall H.S. team in the NJSIAA Cenrtal Jersey Group III semifinals.
It was a great game and although Wall gave everything they had, the Eagles came away with
yet another victory, 21 - 13. Next game will be the
finals on either Dec. 1st or 2nd at Rutgers stadium.
I had a chance to catch a few frisbees on the field at halftime and then
enjoyed sitting with two very nice little girls, Marissa and Alissa while we watched the
rest of the game. I hope I can go to Rutgers and do my frisbee demo at halftime
again when the Eagles close out their season with another State Sectional
title.
Middletown South Eagles still undefeated!
Once again the Eagles Football Team is having a great season. They've already clinched
their conference championship and won their first NJ State Sectional playoff game against
Nottingham by a score of 17-14. To prove they're cool, they let me perform frisbee
demos at half time!

Middletown South Eagles still undefeated!
On Friday evening, Oct. 5th, the undefeated Eagles football team
played the undefeated Raritan Rockets. What a game! South jumped out to a 20-0
lead in the first half, but the Rockets came back and made a game of it at 20-14 in the
third quarter. But the Eagles awoke and put the Rockets away with a final score
of 33-14. The best part of all is that I was allowed to perform a
frisbee demo at half-time! The fans were great and really inspired me. I was told I
could come back any time and I think I will! Come see me at the future Eagles' home
games!

Team New Jersey wins the NCAC
State Challenge 2nd year in a row
On Saturday August 18th, the National Capitol Air Canines club
held their annual canine frisbee state challenge in York, PA. There were teams
representing North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New
Jersey. There were no less than six individual teams who were either current or past
world finalists! I'm proud to say that the new Jersey team (Bear & Chris, Kallah
& Kevin and Rudy & Bob) was victorious. I will add a page to my Year 2001
Competitions page as soon as I receive them. I can tell you that Chris & Bear
won the overall individual champs, Kalah & Kevin won the distance and we wound up 3rd
in the Accuracy competition.
